Telling Stories Next Show: It’s All About Love

One of my mom’s favorite, favorite songs is Earth, Wind & Fire’s ‘It’s All About Love’. I mean when my brother and I were kids, whenever we were driving somewhere and it came on the radio, my mom would sing every line to us. And when Maurice started “rappin”, she was right there with him – emphasizing certain lines. Sometimes we couldn’t get out of the car until the song finished. LOL!

One of my mom’s favorite lines that she loved to emphasize:

I’m tryna tell you, you gotta love you.

You gotta learn all the beautiful things around you – the trees and the birds.

And if there ain’t no beauty, you gotta make some beauty! Have mercy!

If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s that we gotta make our own beauty! Making my own beauty meant I produced and hosted two virtual storytelling shows last year.

But I’m not stopping there!

Telling Stories’ first 2021 show is all about love!

Listen, I love me some love. Loving and being loved is such a beautiful thing and something I wish for every human on Earth to experience. And even though our show will focus on romantic love, I believe in the power of love in all forms.

Join us on Wednesday, February 17, at 7 p.m. (EST) for Love Jones: The Stories. Six storytellers (3 women, 3 men) will share some of the BEST love stories you’ve ever heard.

You can RSVP here to get a link to the show. Our show is free, but we accept donations to support our storytellers.

A portion of the proceeds will also be donated to Springboard to Opportunities, a non-profit based in Jackson, Mississippi that connects families living in affordable housing with resources and programs that help them advance themselves in school, work and life.

We’ll be raffling off three chocolate lovers’ gift baskets and anyone who donates at least $10 will be automatically entered to win. You can make a donation here.

So on February 17, pour you a glass of wine (or maybe some hot cocoa), get your tissues ready, settle in and get ready to hear some love stories!
