2019 has been a wild year! In the best and most unexpected ways. At some point last year, I looked myself in the mirror and said, “No more playing small!” And I meant that shit.
At the top of 2019, I met with my therapist and told her my goal for the year was to get the name Diana Veiga out there. She was like, “Uhhhh ok… let’s come up with a concrete plan and action items to get there.”
She gave me “homework” and it was a piece of paper where you had to write you your goal, but also the steps you were going to take to get there.
I made a vision board in early January to match the goals I’d set, but also the mood I wanted to carry with me for the year. The mood was basically: You a bad bish, so act like it and get it done!

Some things on my goals list were:
Get a promotion at work: ✔️
Create my Diana Veiga website to showcase my work: ✔️
Do stand up comedy:✔️✔️
In this year I’ve performed at the Lincoln Theatre, Black Cat and DC Improv. I’ve written and performed a few stand up sets that got laughs! But I’ve also submitted some short stories to literary journals and gotten rejected. Welp! The highs and lows of being an artiste. But I’m on my Diddy: Can’t stop, won’t stop tho.
There have been a lot of professional and personal triumphs that have brought abundance, peace, joy and love into my life. This is a year where I pushed past the fears and all the voices in my head that try to tell me I can’t do that so I shouldn’t even try; and I told them to shut up and just went for it instead!
This year reinforced that it’s necessary to:
Write it down, make it happen.
Have faith, do the work.
Name it, claim it, believe it, receive it.
Keep doin you, cause eventually somebody gon’ feel it.
I’m going to take some time to get my 2020 goals together, write them down, and share them with my therapist and then of course put them into action. I hope this new year is good to you. That it’s the start to a wonderful decade. We can plan our lives as much as possible, but remember to leave room for some magic.
Until 2020…
Good stuff! I can feel the energy and relate even tho’ 2020 sure morphed into something far different than anything I imagined. I just got an email about your Telling holiday Stories and would like to send a pitch. Thinking about it now.
Thanks for doing this!!!
Blessings and good vibes,
Ethel
